About this Project

The Horsham Regional Livestock Exchange has been operating at the Burnt Creek Industrial Estate since November 1999.  It is an important part of the local economy and one of regional Victoria’s main livestock selling centres.

The Exchange is Victoria’s fourth-largest sheep and lamb market and is the major livestock selling centre in the Wimmera, attracting vendors from as far afield as the South Australian border and southern-New South Wales.

Horsham Rural City Council invited MKM Constructions to undertake infrastructure upgrade works at the Horsham Regional Livestock Exchange (HRLE).

The project has revitalised the HRLE through the provision of a fixed roof to the 23,400m2 stock yards. The roofing upgrade project includes:
    – Sawtooth modular saleyard designed roofing covering the entire sale yard area of 23,400 m2
    – LED lighting throughout
    – Solar Panels – 100 kW photovoltaic cells (the maximum allowable within the limits of the small-scale renewable energy market provisions)
Water storage – 500 kL, complying with fire service requirements
